Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Casterlin's Tally Gives Women's Soccer 1-0 Win Over Nyack

Junior Courtney Casterlin (Chenango Forks, NY) took advantage of a fortuitous break for her first career goal, lifting Goldey-Beacom to a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph over Nyack at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

A stalemate in every sense was broken by the Lightning in the 64th minute.  GBC was the benefactor when a Nyack defender nudged the ball away from her goalkeeper.  Senior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) got a touch on it and Casterlin buried it in the back of the net.

The assist was Harvis' 12th career, putting her in sole possession of seventh place in school history, and her 30 points has her one outside the top 10.

GBC's buckled down in the second half by getting a 9-2 shots advantage and junior goalkeeper Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) did not have to make a save.

Aguirre did make two saves in the first half, including a great stop off Rebekah Lawler's point-blank header in the 35th minute.

Casterlin was one of three for the Lightning to end with three shots for the Lightning (4-7, 3-5 CACC).

Lawler ended with two shots and Jordan Jansen amassed five saves for the Warriors (1-10-1, 1-6).

Goldey-Beacom is home Wednesday against Lincoln (PA) at approximately 3:15 pm as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The men's game against Pitt-Johnstown starts at 1:00 pm.
