Megan Harvis (Delran H.S./Delran, N.J.), the Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team opened its season with a 2-0 victory over the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown on Thursday afternoon.
The Lightning took a quick 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when freshman forward
Kelsey Vick (Paul VI H.S./Clarksboro, N.J.) scored the first goal of her college career off an assist from Harvis.
Just over a minute into the second half, Harvis took a long pass from freshman defender
Tanner Turner-Rush (Susquehanna Township H.S./Harrisburg, Pa.) and scored on a breakaway for her first goal of the season.
Making the first start of her college career, freshman goalkeeper
Marie Goodman (BCIT-Westampton H.S./Willingboro, N.J.) made six saves to earn her first career shutout.
Senior goalkeeper
Timi Shiock (Punxsutawney H.S./Punxsutawney, Pa.) made three saves in a losing effort for the Mountain Cats.
