LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Senior forward
Alexandra Smith (Pennsville Memorial H.S./Pennsville, N.J.) tied a school record by scoring four goals as Goldey-Beacom College (2-3-0) ended a three-match losing streak by earning a 6-1 non-conference victory over Lincoln University (2-3-1) at Lincoln University Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior forward
Megan Harvis (Delran H.S./Delran, N.J.) gave Goldey-Beacom a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when she scored off an assist from freshman forward
Kelsey Vick (Paul VI H.S./Clarksboro, N.J.). Less than two minutes later, Smith upped the advantage to 2-0 when she tallied her first goal of the season off a feed from Vick.
After Smith extended the margin to 3-0 in the 21st minute, sophomore midfielder
Tamara Greene (Piscataway H.S./Piscataway, N.J.) narrowed the margin to 3-1 by scoring her second goal of the season.
With 10:23 left in the first half, sophomore midfielder
Jane Grimley (Delsea Regional H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick to increase the Lightning's lead to 4-1.
In the 60th minute, Smith added her third goal of the match when she scored off an assist from Harvis. Less than two minutes later, she tallied her fourth goal of the match off an assist from senior forward
Nicole Curry (Lenape H.S./Mount Laurel, N.J.).
Making her first start of the season, junior
Valarie Orth (Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) made one save for the Lightning, who outshot Lincoln by a 23-7 margin.
Quick Strikes· Smith recorded her fourth career "hat trick" in the win over Lincoln on Thursday ... It was also the second four-goal game of her career.
· Smith tallied the fourth four-goal game in Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer history ... In 2011, she had four goals in a 6-1 win over Concordia at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field.
· The other two players to score four goals in a game were
