WATERBURY, Conn. - As the Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team entered its contest at Post University on Saturday, the Lightning had hopes that the success of their recent five-match homestand would carry over to their first road match of the season.
However, the Eagles (2-3-0, 1-2-0) spoiled those ideas by handing the Lightning (3-3-0, 2-1-0) a 5-1 defeat at Municipal Stadium.
Post used a goal and an assist from junior forward
Raphael Moura (Danbury H.S./Danbury, Conn.) to build a 3-0 lead in the opening 37 minutes of the match.
The Lightning ended the shutout bid in the 71st minute when senior forward
Luiz Ristow (Joinville, Brazil) tallied his third goal of the season. However, the Eagles added two goals in the final 10 minutes of the match to secure the victory.
Freshman goalkeeper
Marcus Arrvidsson (Taby, Sweden) made three saves for the Lightning, who were outshot by a 14-11 margin.
