Women's Soccer Unable to Overcome Philadelphia University in 2-0 Loss

Lightning Suffer First Shutout of Season



WILMINGTON, Del.
– Junior goalkeeper Courtney Shaw (Villa Joseph Marie H.S./Langhorne, Pa.) made seven saves as Philadelphia University (3-0-1, 3-0-0) extended its unbeaten streak to four straight matches with a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (1-2-0, 0-2-0) at the Lightning's Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when junior midfielder Carla Chmielewski (Paul VI H.S./Glassboro, N.J.) scored her second goal of the season on a one-on-one opportunity.

With 7:20 remaining in the first half, the Rams upped the advantage to 2-0 when freshman midfielder Alexandra Reyes (Vineland H.S./Vineland, N.J.) scored the first goal of her college career off an assist from freshman midfielder Jaid Mark (Pottsgrove H.S./Yardley, Pa.).

Freshman goalkeeper Marie Goodman (BCIT-Westampton H.S./Willingboro, N.J.) made two saves for the Lightning, who outshot the Rams by a 14-12 margin.
