Men's Soccer Claims 2-0 Victory Over Caldwell in CACC Opener

Lightning Record Second Shutout of Season

WILMINGTON, Del. - If the last two weeks are any indication, Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer coach Ryan Dixon might want to consider playing all of his games on Sundays.

For the second straight Sunday, the Lightning (2-2-0, 1-0-0) posted a shutout by earning a 2-0 victory over Caldwell University (2-2-0, 0-1-0) in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for both teams at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field.

After a scoreless first half, senior forward Luiz Ristow (Joinville, Brazil) gave Goldey-Beacom a 1-0 lead when he scored his second goal of the season off an assist from junior defender Daniel Bennett (Arthur P. Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) in the 54th minute.

Just over 12 minutes later, freshman forward Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) upped the advantage to 2-0 when he recorded his third goal of the season after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder Manuel Berto (Valencia, Spain).

Led by freshman goalkeeper Marcus Arrvidsson (Taby, Sweden), the Lightning limited Caldwell to three shots in the match.
