LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Opening its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule, the Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team used a team effort to earn a three-set sweep over Georgian Court University at the Lions' GCU Wellness Center on Thursday evening.
The win allowed the Lightning to even their record to 3-3 while the Lions dropped to 2-3 on the season. It was the CACC opener for both teams.
Senior outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) tallied a match-high nine kills while sophomore outside hitter
Grace McCarthy (Delaware Military Academy/Middletown, Del.) added five kills. Senior defensive specialist
Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) contributed a match-high 17 digs to lead the Goldey-Beacom defense.
Quick Strikes· Receveur has posted 10 or more digs in five of the Lightning's six matches this season following her 17-dig performance on Thursday night. She needs 15 digs to become the sixth player in school history with 1,000 career digs.
· The Lightning snapped a five-match losing streak against the Lions on Thursday night. It was Goldey-Beacom's first win over Georgian Court since a three-set victory on Oct. 11, 2011 at the Joseph West Jones College Center.
