CALDWELL, N.J. - Junior forward
Michael Balkovic (St. John Vianney H.S./Neptune, N.J.) scored a game-high 24 points and added 10 rebounds as Caldwell College (14-9, 10-6) ended a two-game losing streak by handing Goldey-Beacom College (9-14, 7-9) a 76-67 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at the George R. Newman Center on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Cougars were able to hold its third place spot in the CACC North Division standings and secure a berth in the eight-team CACC Championship field. Meanwhile, the Lightning remain in fourth place in the CACC South Division standings despite suffering its fourth loss in the last five games.
Balkovic, who posted his 10th "double double" of the season, made 8 of 10 shots from the floor while making eight of nine free throw attempts en route to leading the Cougars to the victory. He scored 14 of his points in the first half as the Cougars jumped out to a 37-33 lead at the intermission and held off the Lightning.

Terik Bridgeman (Nia Prep/Harlem, N.Y.) added 14 points with eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Sophomore guard
Dawan Lighty (Kennedy H.S./Paterson, N.J.) came off the bench to contribute 14 points after making five of nine shots from the floor, including a 2-for-6 performance from beyond the arc.
Freshman guard
Donte McGill (Mont Clare Academy/Newark, Del.) led the Lightning by scoring 23 points with a season-high nine rebounds while contributing four assists. The Lightning's leading scorer this season, McGill scored 20 or more points for the fifth time this year.
Meanwhile, junior center
Chris Gebhart (Cherry Hill West H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) and junior guard
Jarrel Lane (St. Patrick H.S./Rahway, N.J.) each added 14 points for the Lightning, who were playing their penultimate road game of the regular season.
The Lightning will travel to Wilmington University on Tuesday, Feb. 18 for a key CACC South Division contest against the Wildcats. Opening tip-off at the WU Athletics Complex is slated for 8 p.m.
