Offense Strikes for Men's Soccer in 6-2 Victory Over East Stroudsburg

Lightning Erupt for Season-High Six Goals

WILMINGTON, Del.
– Senior forward Luiz Ristow (Joinville, Brazil) scored one goal and added two assists as Goldey-Beacom College (6-5-0) scored a season-high six goals en route to a 6-2 non-conference victory over East Stroudsburg University (4-7-1) at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Lightning took a quick 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when freshman forward Omar Hernandez (Avon Grove H.S./West Grove, Pa.) collected a rebound of a shot by Ristow and scored his fourth goal of the season.

Just under nine minutes later, Ristow extended the advantage to 2-0 when he tallied his team-high eighth goal of the year off passes from Hernandez and freshman midfielder Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain).

In the 47th minute, sophomore midfielder Joe Traynor (William Tennent H.S./Warminster, Pa.) upped the margin to 3-0 when he scored his first goal of the season off a free kick from 25 yards.

However, the Warriors ended the Lightning's bid for a shutout just nine seconds later when sophomore midfielder Austin Bogart (Hanover H.S./Warrior Run, Pa.) scored his first goal of the season off an assist from freshman defender Enrique Ruiz (Rutherford H.S./Rutherford, N.J.).

In the 69th minute, Bogart closed the margin to 3-2 when he converted a penalty kick after a foul was called against Goldey-Beacom in the penalty area. But, just over 10 minutes later, junior defender Daniel Bennett (Arthur P. Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) added a penalty kick for his second goal of the season, increasing the Lightning's lead to 4-2.

After the Lightning used a goal from sophomore midfielder Erik Tapper (Linkoping, Sweden) to push the gap to 5-2, sophomore forward Rerom Delys (Vila Velha, Brazil) earned his third goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 86th minute for a four-goal lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Adam Olander (Stockholm, Sweden) made four saves for the Lightning, who outshot East Stroudsburg by a 20-9 margin.
