Ristow's Overtime Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Past Felician in OT, 2-1

Senior Forward Scores Winning Goal in 94th Minute for Lightning's 7th Win of Season



WILMINGTON, Del.
– Senior forward Luiz Ristow (Joinville, Brazil) scored the winning goal in the 94th minute to lead Goldey-Beacom College (7-5-0, 5-2-0) to its fourth win in the last five matches, a 2-1 overtime victory over Felician College (2-11-0, 2-6-0) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Sunday afternoon.
 
Ristow, who scored his team-high ninth goal of the season, gave the Lightning the victory when he headed in a crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Erik Tapper (Linkoping, Sweden) with 6:38 remaining in the first overtime period.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Lightning took a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute when freshman midfielder Cameron Wilkinson (Terrigal, NSW, Australia) scored the first goal of his college career when he took a pass from freshman forward Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) and blasted a 35-yard shot off the right post.
 
The Lightning held the advantage until the 79th minute when sophomore midfielder Corey Telfer (North Brunswick H.S./North Brunswick, N.J.) scored his fifth goal of the season off a pass from senior defender Alex Jean (Notre Dame de Londres, France).

· The Lightning and the Golden Falcons were originally scheduled to play on Saturday, but inclement weather forced the postponement of the match by 24 hours … It is the third time this year a match has been postponed for the Lightning. 
· The Lightning earned their fifth CACC victory of the season, marking the most conference wins by Goldey-Beacom since the 2003 season when the Lightning had a 6-2-1 record and won the CACC title.
· With five CACC victories this year, the Lightning have eclipsed their conference win total over the previous four seasons combined.
· The seven wins by the Lightning are also the most in a single season since the 2003 CACC Championship season … Goldey-Beacom posted a 14-8-1 record during the 2003 campaign.

· The Lightning have outshot their opponents in 10 of 12 matches this season after holding a 22-10 advantage against Felician on Sunday … Goldey-Beacom has outshot its opponents by a 200-116 margin.
· Ristow has scored four goals with four assists in his last four matches … He has scored a goal in three of the four matches and has a point in each of the four contests.
· With 23 points this season, Ristow is tied for ninth place on the Lightning's single-season points list … He also ranks third in the CACC with nine goals this season.
· Of the Lightning's seven wins this year, six of them have come at home … Goldey-Beacom is now 6-2-0 at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field this season.
