Volleyball Celebrates Homecoming With Three-Set Sweep

McCoy Tallies Match-High 25 Kills in Victory



WILMINGTON, Del.
– Senior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) tallied 25 kills with a .525 hitting percentage to lead Goldey-Beacom College (10-10) to its second straight win, a three-set non-conference victory over Mercy College (4-15) at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning, who were playing their second match in less than 24 hours, claimed the victory by set scores of 27-25, 25-13 and 25-20.

In addition to posting a match-high 25 kills, McCoy also added nine digs for the Lightning while sophomore middle hitter Grace McCarthy (Delaware Military Academy/Middletown, Del.) came off the bench to contribute 10 kills with a .350 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale H.S./Scottsdale, Ariz.) recorded 38 assists with seven digs and three kills for Goldey-Beacom while junior defensive specialist Mackenzie Wilson (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) posted a match-high 17 digs.

Senior outside hitter Brenna White (Douglas H.S./Gardnerville, Nev.) recorded a "double double" for Mercy with 18 kills and 16 digs while sophomore middle blocker Sonia Morales (San Fernando, Calif.) contributed nine kills.     

Quick Strikes
· The Lightning and the Mavericks met for the sixth time in a series that is tied at 3-3 ... Goldey-Beacom snapped a two-match losing streak in the series and hosted Mercy for the first time since the 2011 season when the Lightning earned a four-set victory over the Mavericks.
· The Lightning earned their 10th win of the season, giving them their first 10-win campaign since the 2011 season … In 2011, Goldey-Beacom posted a 14-16 record.
· McCoy posted her 14th 10-kill effort of the season on Saturday afternoon … With 293 kills in 20 matches, she leads the CACC … In addition, McCoy upped her school-record career total to 1,265 kills.
· McCoy also moved into ninth place on the Lightning's single-season kills list with her 293 kills this year … She now holds 4 of the top 10 all-time single-season kill totals in school history.
· Cipolletti tallied 30 or more assists for the 13th time this season, including six of the last seven matches … With 643 assists in 20 matches, Cipolletti continues to lead the CACC and ranks third in the CACC by averaging 9.06 assists per set.
· Senior defensive specialist Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) posted 10 or more digs for the 14th time this season after tallying 13 digs in Saturday's victory over the Mavericks … She increased her career total to 1,158 digs, the fifth-highest total in school history.
· With six kills against Mercy on Saturday afternoon, senior middle hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) became the fifth player in school history with 700 or more kills.
· White, who entered this week ranked second in NCAA Division II in total kills, recorded her fourth consecutive "double double" effort after posting 18 kills with 16 digs … It was White's 12th "double double" of the season.
