Georgian Court Edges Women's Soccer for 3-2 Victory

Smith Scores Two Goals for Lightning in Loss

WILMINGTON, Del.
– Sophomore midfielder Tayler Bramley (Sparta H.S./Sparta, N.J.) scored two goals, including the game-winning marker in the 72nd minute, to lead Georgian Court University (5-3-0, 4-2-0) to a 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (3-4-0, 1-4-0) at the Lightning's Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Wednesday afternoon.

After the Lions tied the match in the 54th minute on a goal by senior defender Rachel Tremblay (Manalapan H.S./Manalapan, N.J.), Bramley gave Georgian Court a 3-2 lead it did not relinquish with 18:38 left when she gathered a loose ball in the penalty area and scored from close range for her second goal of the match.

The Lightning claimed a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when senior forward Alexandra Smith (Pennsville Memorial H.S./Pennsville, N.J.) took a pass from senior forward Nicole Curry (Lenape H.S./Mount Laurel, N.J.) and scored her sixth goal of the season.

Just over nine minutes later, Bramley tied the match at 1-1 when she took a pass from freshman forward Morgan Peacock (Edison H.S./Edison, N.J.) and scored on a shot to the far post.

Smith regained a one-goal advantage for the Lightning in the 52nd minute when she received a through pass from freshman defender Tanner Turner-Rush (Susquehanna Township H.S./Harrisburg, Pa.) and posted her second goal of the match on a one-on-one opportunity with junior goalkeeper Casey O'Connor (Toms River South H.S./Toms River, N.J.).

The Lions, who ended a two-match losing streak, outshot the Lightning by a 17-10 margin, including an 11-5 edge in the second half.
