WILMINGTON, Del. – Freshman middle hitter Grace McCarthy (Delaware Military Academy/Middletown, Del.) recorded 26 kills and hit .500 to lead Goldey-Beacom College (3-5) to a pair of non-conference victories over Cheyney University (0-4) and Delaware Valley College (4-4) at the Lightning's Joseph West Jones College Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning, who have won three of their last four matches after an 0-4 start, earned a three-set sweep over Cheyney before posting a four-set victory over Delaware Valley in the final match of the session. In the other match, Delaware Valley posted a three-set win over Cheyney.

McCarthy, who also contributed five blocks in the two wins, led the Lightning to the win over Cheyney with a season-high 15 kills and an .824 hitting percentage. She also had two service aces and a block against the Wolves.

In addition, McCarthy contributed 11 kills and six digs in the Lightning's win over the Aggies while adding a season-high four blocks.

Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) posted 34 kills in the two victories, including a season-high 21 kills against Delaware Valley. McCoy, who moved into fourth place on the Lightning's career kills list, also had 13 kills while hitting .370 as the Lightning defeated Cheyney for the second time in five days.

Freshman middle hitter Casey Bair (Winters Mill H.S./Westminster, Md.) recorded a .621 hitting percentage in the two matches for Goldey-Beacom. After hitting .727 with nine kills and one attack error in the first match against Cheyney, Bair tallied a season-high 12 kills with just two attack errors in the victory against the Aggies.

Freshman setter Kim Matlock (Jackson Memorial H.S./Jackson, N.J.) contributed to the Lightning's victories with 86 assists, including a season-high 47 assists against Delaware Valley.

Senior middle hitter Lindsay Ashby (Academy Charter H.S./Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the Wolves against Goldey-Beacom with four kills while sophomore outside hitter Virshae Campbell (Silverado H.S./Long Beach, Calif.) had eight digs.

In the match against the Aggies, senior middle hitter Janel Gluch (Hillsborough H.S./Hillsborough, N.J.) had 13 kills to lead Delaware Valley while junior outside hitter Gina Page (West Mifflin H.S./West Mifflin, Pa.) contributed a "double double" with 10 kills and 11 digs.

The Lightning will finish their four-match homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 17 when they host Chestnut Hill College for a 7 p.m. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.
