McCoy Tallies 20 Kills in Loss for Lightning

WILMINGTON, Del. – Sophomore middle hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth Area H.S./Nazareth, Pa.) tallied a season-high 16 kills with a .467 hitting percentage as Chestnut Hill College (2-7, 1-1) rallied from a two-set deficit to end a three-match losing streak with a five-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (3-6, 0-2) at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Tuesday evening.

The Griffins, who recorded their second five-set win of the season, earned the victory by scores of 20-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-16 and 15-10. The loss snapped Goldey-Beacom's two-match win streak.

Biro, who also recorded a season-high seven blocks in the victory, tallied three of her kills in the decisive fifth set to lead the Griffins to the victory.

Meanwhile, freshman outside hitter Madison McBride (Robert A. Millikan H.S./Long Beach, Calif.) contributed nine kills with 11 digs while senior outside hitter Alexandra DePalma (Governor Mifflin H.S./Shillington, Pa.) added eight kills and 11 digs.

Freshman libero Regina Trabosh (Mount St. Joseph Academy/Norristown, Pa.) posted a match-high 21 digs for the Griffins, who posted 60 digs for the fifth time this season.

Junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.), who earned CACC Player of the Week honors on Monday, notched her second 20-kill match of the season after a match-high 20 kills with five digs and two service aces.

Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) earned her first "double double" of the season after setting season highs with 14 kills and 10 digs. In addition, senior opposite Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) earned her second "double double" of the season with 12 assists and 10 digs.

The Lightning, who finished a four-match homestand with the loss on Tuesday night, will be idle until Thursday, Sept. 26 when they visit Bowie State for a 7 p.m. non-conference match. Meanwhile, the Griffins will host Queens College on Friday night in a non-conference match at 5 p.m.
