WILMINGTON, Del. – Led by a career-high 11 points from sophomore forward Taylor Leonard (John A. Coleman Catholic H.S./Lake Katrine, N.Y.), Goldey-Beacom College (15-8, 12-2) extended its win streak to five straight games with a 61-47 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Felician College (6-15, 6-8) at the Lightning's Joseph West Jones College Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning, who have won 12 of their last 15 games, also secured a berth in the CACC Tournament for the fourth consecutive season after edging the Golden Falcons for the seventh time in the last eight meetings.

Led by a pair of three-point field goals from senior guard Jacinda Jones (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.), the Lightning sprinted out to a 17-5 lead in the opening 11 minutes of the game. But, the Golden Falcons trimmed the margin to 23-15 by scoring 10 of the next 16 points, including four points from junior forward Trina Plummer (North Babylon H.S./West Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Ashley Morris (West Orange H.S./West Orange, N.J.).

Led by five points from Leonard, the Lightning used an 11-6 spurt over the final four minutes to take a 34-21 advantage into the intermission.

The Lightning expanded their lead to 43-21 in the opening 4:39 of the second half by scoring nine unanswered points, including four points from seniors Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) and Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.).

However, the Golden Falcons answered by going on an 20-6 run over the next 12 minutes to narrow the margin to 49-41 with 7:08 remaining on a pair of free throws by Plummer.

But, the Lightning put the game out of reach by scoring 12 of the final 18 points, including five points from sophomore forward Chelsea Grover (Seneca H.S./Southampton, N.J.).

Leonard and Hudson each scored 11 points to lead the Lightning to the victory while Richardson added 10 points with eight rebounds and five assists. Meanwhile, Grover contributed nine points with a game-high 21 rebounds.

Plummer recorded her fourth “double double” of the season in a losing effort for the Golden Falcons, scoring a game-high 17 points with 12 rebounds.
