WILMINGTON, Del. - Freshman forward Peter Alexis (Holy Redeemer H.S./Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) erupted for a game-high 33 points and added a season-high 20 rebounds as Philadelphia University (16-8, 11-4) earned its third win in the last four games with a 77-66 come-from-behind victory over Goldey-Beacom College (8-17, 4-12) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at the Lightning's Joseph West Jones College Center on Tuesday evening.
 
Alexis, who tallied his ninth "double double" of the season, made 16 of 21 shots from the floor en route to recording his second consecutive 30-point game. He scored 19 of his 33 points in the second half as the Rams overcame a five-point deficit at the intermission to defeat the Lightning.
 
Trailing by a 30-25 margin to open the second half, the Rams put together a quick 8-2 run in the first 2:23 to take their first lead of the game at 33-32 on a jumper by sophomore guard Nick Schlitzer (Pottsville H.S./Pottsville, Pa.).
 
After the Lightning answered by scoring five of the next seven points to regain the advantage, the Rams used a 19-4 run over a seven-minute span to take a commanding 54-41 lead with 8:02 left on an Alexis jumper.
 
Junior guard A.J. Picard (Souderton Area H.S./Skippack, Pa.) ended the run by converting a traditional three-point play with 7:44 remaining, but the Rams countered by putting together a 15-5 spurt to extend the margin to 69-49 with 2:53 left on a pair of free throws by junior guard Nick Christian (Bensalem H.S./Bensalem, Pa.).
 
The Lightning put together a quick 9-2 spurt to trim the deficit to 71-58, but they were unable to get any closer.
 
Led by 14 points from Picard, the Lightning used a quick start against the Rams to take a 30-25 lead in the first half. The Lightning shot 48.1 per cent in the opening stanza and led as many as eight points.
 
While Alexis led the Rams to the victory, Schlitzer added 14 points with seven rebounds while senior guard Stephen Griffin (Paint Branch H.S./Bowie, Md.) came off the bench to score a season-high 11 points in the second half.
 
Picard led the Lightning in a losing effort by scoring a team-high 25 points with four rebounds and three assists. He made 10 of 11 shots from the floor, including a 4-for-5 effort from three-point range, en route to posting his sixth 20-point performance of the season.
 
The Rams shot 50.0 per cent from the field in the victory, including a 22-for-34 effort after the intermission. They also held a commanding 43-25 rebounding advantage over Goldey-Beacom.
 
The Lightning, who lost their second straight game, will finish the season on Saturday afternoon when they host Holy Family at the Jones Center. Opening tip-off is slated for approximately 3 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game. Prior to the game, the Lightning will honor their senior class on the occasion of their final college game.
