WALTHAM, Mass. - Led by a game-high 18 points from sophomore forward
Tyler McFarland (Camden Hills H.S./Rockport, Maine), Bentley University (8-3) had four players score in double figures as the Falcons ended a three-game losing streak with a 99-65 non-conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (4-6) at the Dana Center on Saturday afternoon.
While the Falcons ended their three-game losing streak, they also handed the Lightning their third loss in a row.
After a slow start, the Falcons took a 13-9 lead with 12:17 remaining in the first half on a pair of three-point field goals by senior guard
Jasper Grassa (Lynn Classical H.S./Lynn, Mass.). But, the Lightning put together a five-point spurt over the next two minutes to claim a 14-13 advantage on a three-point field goal by freshman guard
Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./New Castle, Del.) with 10:35 left.
However, the Falcons took control of the game by scoring 16 of the next 19 points for a commanding 29-17 advantage with 5:47 left in the first half. The Lightning trimmed the margin to 32-23 with 4:29 left in the opening stanza before the Falcons scored 13 of the final 22 points in the period to take a 45-32 advantage into the intermission.
Over the first seven minutes of the second half, the Falcons used a commanding 24-7 run to increase their lead to 66-39. From there, the Falcons continued to expand the advantage and led by as many as 38 points with 2:11 remaining.
McFarland made 8 of 14 shots from the floor, including two of four three-point field goals, en route to his 18-point effort while Grassa tallied 17 points, including 14 in the first half. Meanwhile, junior forward
Andrew Shaw (Thornton Academy/Saco, Maine) added 17 points with eight rebounds.

The Lightning will be idle until Tuesday, Dec. 31 when they travel to Lock Haven University for a 12 p.m. non-conference game against the Eagles.
