BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Junior forward Alexandra Smith (Pennsville Memorial H.S./Pennsville, N.J.) recorded the third "hat trick" of her college career by scoring three goals as Goldey-Beacom College (2-10-1, 1-9-1) ended a five-match winless streak with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Concordia College (0-10-0, 0-10-0) at the Holtdorf Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.

Led by Smith, the Lightning earned their first CACC victory since Sept. 29, 2012 when they edged Concordia by a 2-1 margin at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field.

Smith, who leads the Lightning with six goals this season, gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when she scored off a pass from junior defender Nicole Curry (Lenape H.S./Mount Laurel, N.J.).

With 11:34 remaining in the first half, she extended the advantage to 2-0 when she converted a long pass from sophomore defender Alexa Boyer (Hempfield H.S./East Petersburg, Pa.) for her second goal of the match.

In the 56th minute, Smith completed her three-goal performance with an unassisted marker after controlling the ball in the middle of the penalty area.

Led by senior Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.), the Lightning posted their second shutout of the season. Foster, who was making her fourth straight start as the Lightning's goalkeeper, made one save.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Forlini (Maria Regina H.S./Yonkers, N.Y.) made five saves in the loss for Concordia, which was outshot by Goldey-Beacom by a 14-2 margin.

The Lightning will play their final match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 29 when they visit Chestnut Hill College for a 4 p.m. match against the Griffins.
