BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Senior guard Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) became the second player in Goldey-Beacom College history to record 1,000 career rebounds as the Lightning (9-7, 6-1) earned their fifth win in the last seven games, a 52-49 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Bloomfield College (7-7, 4-3) at the Deacons' Bloomfield Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Richardson, who was limited to just seven points, grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, including the milestone rebound with 16:13 remaining in the second half. With 1,001 career rebounds, she joined Kim Rowley (2003-07) as the only players in school history with 1,000 rebounds.

The Deacons used seven points from junior forward Iliriana Lulgjuraj (Bloomfield H.S./Bloomfield, N.J.) to build a quick 7-3 lead in the opening four minutes of the first half. But, the Lightning answered by going on an 18-6 run, including a pair of three-point baskets from senior guard Jacinda Jones (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.), to take a 21-13 lead with 10:34 remaining.

After a three-point basket from junior guard Ivettlis Castro (Carteret H.S./Carteret, N.J.) trimmed the margin to 21-16, the Lightning scored 6 of the next 10 points to extend their advantage to 27-20 on a pair of free throws by senior guard Ashley Rosario (Harry S. Truman H.S./Levittown, Pa.) with 5:17 left.

But, the Deacons ended the first half with five straight points to narrow the deficit to 27-25.

After Bloomfield opened the second half by scoring four of the first six points, the Lightning went on a 9-4 spurt, including five points from Jones, to regain a 38-33 lead with 12:53 remaining in the half. But, a six-point spurt by the Deacons over a three-minute span gave Bloomfield a 39-38 advantage before back-to-back jumpers from Rosario regained a three-point edge for Goldey-Beacom.

The Deacons scored 6 of the next 10 points to narrow the margin to 46-45 before four straight points by the Lightning extended the advantage to 50-45 with 2:36 left on a pair of free throws by Richardson.

But, the Deacons cut the deficit to 50-49 with back-to-back field goals from Carter and sophomore center Tierra Scott (Appoquinimink H.S./Bear, Del.) before two free throws from senior forward Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.) secured the victory.

Jones and Rosario each scored 13 points to lead the Lightning while Hudson added 11 points with eight rebounds while becoming the ninth player in school history to play in 100 career games.

In addition to her seven points and eight rebounds, Richardson recorded a season-high nine assists.

Lulgjuraj scored 12 points in a losing effort for the Deacons, making five of nine shots from the floor. Castro added eight points with four rebounds and two steals.

The Lightning, who tied a school record by winning their sixth straight conference game, will return to the Joseph West Jones College Center on Tuesday night to host Wilmington University in a CACC game at 8 p.m.
