Updating the Lightning
Now 5-13 overall and 2-8 in the CACC, the Lightning have lost six straight games after a tough 74-53 setback against Philadelphia University on Wednesday evening at the Gallagher Center. The Lightning trailed for most of the game and had narrowed the margin to 43-37 midway through the second half before the Rams put the game out of reach by going on a 17-7 run. Sophomore guard Marcus Porter led the Lightning in a losing effort by scoring 14 points with six rebounds. Meanwhile, junior guard A.J. Picard and sophomore guard Kyle Steinbergin each chipped in 11 points for the Lightning. Porter remains the team's leading scorer with a 15.9 average while Picard is averaging 14.8 points per game and leads the team with 45 assists.

Scouting Post
Currently 11-8 overall and 7-5 in the CACC, the Eagles will be trying to snap a brief two-game losing skid when they visit the Lightning on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have lost five of their last seven games after a 68-63 setback against Dominican College on Wednesday night at the Drubner Center. Junior forward Jerry Cummings led the Eagles with 13 points in a losing effort while junior forward Devin Willis added 12 points with five rebounds. However, the Eagles were unable to overcome a strong showing from the Chargers, who shot 52.0 per cent from the field. Cummings is the Eagles' leading scorer with a 14.7 average while grabbing a team-high 7.1 rebounds per contest. Meanwhile, junior guard Zach Krischer has made a team-high 66 three-point field goals and is averaging 13.8 points per game.

Series Business: Post
The Lightning and the Eagles will be meeting for the 15th time in a series that Post leads by a commanding 10-4 margin. However, the Lightning have won three straight games in the series after last year's 67-62 come-from-behind victory at the Drubner Center. The Eagles won the first seven meetings in the series before the Lightning posted a 68-59 victory at the Drubner Center on Feb. 10, 2007. The Eagles have a 6-1 home record in the all-time series over Goldey-Beacom.

A Look at Last Year's Meeting
Sophomore guard Marcus Porter scored 10 of his game-high 19 points during a critical 13-4 run as the Lightning overcame an 11-point half-time deficit to earn a 67-62 victory over the Eagles at the Drubner Center. Porter, who narrowly missed a “double double” with a team-high nine rebounds, made 8 of 18 shots from the floor as the Lightning used a strong shooting effort in the second half to earn the victory. Meanwhile, Tariq Ugdah contributed 10 points with eight rebounds and a game-high five steals. The Eagles were led by Zach Krischer, who came off the bench to score 17 points after making five of nine three-point field goals.

Lightning Coaches to Participate in Suits and Sneakers Weekend
The Lightning men's basketball coaching staff will be wearing sneakers on the sidelines for Saturday's game against Post as part of the 10th annual “Suits and Sneakers Weekend” festivities. The event is coordinated by the Coaches vs. Cancer program, which is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Picard Named as CACC Player of the Week After Career Night
After erupting for a career-high 38 points in the Lightning's 105-99 loss against Chestnut Hill last Tuesday night, junior guard A.J. Picard was named as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. It marked the second time Picard has earned the award in his career. The Lightning's second-leading scorer this season, Picard scored 25 of his 38 points in the second half as the Lightning trimmed a 20-point half-time deficit to a six-point margin before falling to the Griffins. Picard, who finished the game one point shy of tying the GBC single-game scoring record, made 10 of 21 shots from the floor, including a 5-for-11 effort from three-point range, while converting 13 of 14 free throws.

Steinbergin Goes on Scoring Spree Against Chestnut Hill
Entering last Tuesday's game against Chestnut Hill, sophomore guard Kyle Steinbergin had scored just 18 points in his career. However, the Englewood, N.J. native erupted for a career-high 18 points in the Lightning's 105-99 loss against the Griffins at the Jones Center. He scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half to play a large role in the Lightning's comeback attempt. Steinbergin made 5 of 13 shots from the floor, including a 4-for-10 performance from beyond the arc, and converted four of five free throws in the loss. In the Lightning's loss against Philadelphia University on Wednesday, Steinbergin posted his second straight double-digit scoring effort with 11 points.

Livingston Sets Goldey-Beacom Career Blocks Record, Eyes Single-Season Mark
With three blocked shots in the Lightning's 105-99 loss against Chestnut Hill last Tuesday night, senior forward Lawrence Livingston became Goldey-Beacom's all-time leader in blocked shots and enters Saturday's game with 99 career rejections, surpassing the previous record of 98 blocks held by Derek Savage (2004-08). Livingston, who ranks second in the CACC in total blocks through games of Jan. 23, now needs just four blocks to eclipse the Lightning's single-season record of 39 blocks that Savage set during the 2007-08 season.

What's Ahead for Goldey-Beacom
The Lightning will head back to Philadelphia on Tuesday night to face the University of the Sciences at Bobby Morgan Arena in a key CACC South Division match-up at approximately 8 p.m. The Lightning will be trying to earn the season sweep over the Devils after rallying for a 56-55 victory at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Nov. 20. Junior guard Keith Thomas hit the eventual game-winning three-point field goal with 2:43 remaining as the Lightning earned the comeback victory.
