PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior guard
Alberto Munoz (Cardinal Gibbons H.S./Morrisville, N.C.) scored a career-high 29 points, including 14 in the first half, to lead Holy Family University (8-7, 4-2) to its third win in the last four games, an 83-70 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (5-11, 2-6) at the Tigers' Campus Center on Saturday afternoon.
Led by Munoz, the Tigers shot a season-high 50.0 per cent from the field, including a 10-for-22 effort from three-point range, en route to the victory over their CACC South Division rivals.
After jumping out to an early 6-4 lead, the Tigers scored 8 of the next 10 points, including four points from junior guard
Ervin Ezell (Deptford H.S./Deptford, N.J.), to extend their advantage to 14-6 with 11:28 remaining.
But, the Lightning answered with a 6-1 spurt to trim the deficit to 15-12 with 9:33 left on a lay-up by senior forward

The Tigers countered by going on a 15-4 run, including seven points from Munoz, to increase the margin to 30-16 with 3:51 left in the stanza.
The teams ended the first half by trading a jumper and made free throw in the final three minutes, giving Holy Family a 33-19 edge at the intermission.
Leading by a 41-28 margin with 16:39 remaining in the second half, the Tigers went on a 12-3 run to extend their cushion to 53-31 on a slam dunk by freshman forward
Isaiah Gans (Redemption Christian Academy/Philadelphia, Pa.). Munoz scored five points during the run for the Tigers, who held Goldey-Beacom without a field goal for nearly five minutes.
A three-point field goal by junior guard
A.J. Picard (Souderton Area H.S./Skippack, Pa.) ended the Tigers' run and ignited a quick 7-0 spurt by the Lightning to close the deficit to 53-38 with 10:15 left. But, the Tigers answered by scoring 8 of the next 10 points for a 61-40 cushion with 6:51 remaining.
From there, the Tigers never trailed by fewer than 13 points en route to defeating the Lightning for the third time in the last four meetings.
In leading the Tigers to the victory, Munoz made 10 of 17 shots from the floor, including a 7-for-12 effort from three-point range. Meanwhile, Ezell added 13 points with five assists and four rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Marcus Porter (Howard H.S./Wilmington, Del.) came off the bench to lead the Lightning with 17 points while sophomore guard
Charles Jackson (Brandywine H.S./Wilmington, Del.) added 16 points with a career-high seven steals.
Picard contributed 15 points with five rebounds for Goldey-Beacom, which lost its fourth game in a row.
The Lightning will return home on Tuesday evening to face Chestnut Hill College in a CACC South Division match-up at the Joseph West Jones College Center. The Griffins won the first meeting between the teams on Dec. 19 by a 76-62 margin.
