BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Junior guard
Norman Pope (St. John's College H.S./Washington, D.C.) made 6 of 10 shots from the floor and scored a game-high 23 points to lead Concordia College (3-6, 1-3) to its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win of the season, an 87-81 victory over Goldey-Beacom College (3-5, 1-1) at the Clippers' Meyer Athletic Center on Friday evening.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Lightning while the Clippers earned their second win in the last three games.
Led by six points from senior forward
Lawrence Livingston (Caesar Rodney H.S./Dover, Del.), the Lightning jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the opening eight minutes of the first half. But, the Clippers answered back by scoring 12 of the next 16 points to narrow the gap to 20-18 with 6:53 remaining.
After the Lightning extended their lead to 24-20, Pope scored back-to-back lay-ups to even the score at 24-24 with 7:19 remaining in the first half.
The teams traded a pair of field goals before the Clippers scored six of the next eight points to lead by a 32-30 margin on a lay-up from sophomore forward

Goldey-Beacom answered by scoring 7 of the next 11 points to reclaim a 37-36 lead on a lay-up by sophomore guard
Charles Jackson (Brandywine H.S./Wilmington, Del.). However, the Clippers went into the intermission with a 43-39 advantage after ending the half on a 6-2 spurt.
Trailing by a four-point margin to open the second half, the Lightning scored 10 of the first 14 points to take a 49-47 lead with 17:07 remaining in the second half on a lay-up by sophomore guard

But, Concordia answered battled back to take a 69-62 lead by going on a 22-13 spurt after a pair of free throws by senior forward
Argelix Gil (Franklin K. Lane H.S./Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 9:20 remaining. However, the Lightning closed the gap to 69-68 with 7:56 left by scoring six unanswered points, including three points from junior forward

After the Clippers upped their lead to 75-70 with 6:27 remaining, the Lightning trimmed the deficit to 75-74 by scoring four straight points before Concordia followed with a five-point run to extend the advantage to 80-74 with 3:09 left.
The Lightning closed the deficit to 80-77 with 2:24 left before the Clippers closed out the game with a 7-4 spurt to secure the victory.
In leading Concordia to the victory, Pope made 6 of 10 shots from the floor in addition to 10 of 11 free throws. He also added two assists and a rebound for the Clippers, who shot 45.2 per cent from the floor.
Meanwhile, Gil added 16 points with 9 rebounds by making 5 of 12 field goal attempts and all six of his free throw attempts.
Porter led the Lightning in a losing effort by scoring 14 points with a game-high six assists while Williams added a season-high 13 points with five rebounds.
The Lightning will continue their five-game road trip on Wednesday, Dec. 5 when they travel to Millersville for a 7 p.m. non-conference game against the Marauders. Meanwhile, the Clippers will travel to Nyack on Tuesday night for a CACC match-up against the Warriors.
