BEAR, Del. – Junior
Stewart Reich (Gov. Thomas Johnson H.S./Frederick, Md.) finished in 18th place to lead the Goldey-Beacom College men's cross country team to fourth place at the University of Delaware Blue and Gold Meet at Lums Pond State Park on Friday afternoon.
Reich, who was the Lightning's top finisher for the sixth straight race, completed the 8K race in a time of 27:26 as the Lightning posted a score of 111 points. Howard University won the meet by placing four runners in the top 10 positions and earned a score of 25 points.
Freshman
Logan Jones (Tuscarora H.S./Frederick, Md.) earned 21st place with a time of 27:35 while junior
Hugo Morales (Walkersville H.S./Frederick, Md.) followed in 25th place by completing the race in 29 minutes, 34 seconds.
Meanwhile, senior
David Zartler (Perryville H.S./Perryville, Md.) had a time of 30:22 to earn 26th place while junior
Jabari Chambers (Howard H.S./Wilmington, Del.) posted a 27th place effort by crossing the finish line in 31 minutes, 14 seconds.
Sophomore
Angelo Melendez (Elmont Memorial H.S./Valley Stream, N.Y.) and freshman
Ethan Burton (Red Lion Christian Academy/Middletown, Del.) followed in 28th and 29th places, respectively.
The Lightning will be idle until Sunday, Oct. 21 when they compete at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet.
