PIKE CREEK, Del. – The Goldey-Beacom College men's and women's basketball teams will host a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Bloomfield College on Sat. afternoon at the Joseph West Jones Center with the women's game tipping off at 1 p.m. and the men following at 3 p.m.

The matchup on the men's side features the No. 1 team in the CACC North Division, Bloomfield College, versus the No. 1 team in the CACC South Division, GBC. This game marks the first rematch between these two CACC powers since the Deacons ended the Lightning's season in the conference semifinals a year ago, when they squeaked by GBC with a 78-76 win to advance to the finals where they then lost to Philadelphia.
As it stands right now, this matchup could be a preview of the CACC 2010 Finals. Look for a lot of offense in this game as the Deacons lead the league with an average of 84.0 ppg, and most recently put up 100 points against Nyack. They feature the CACC's individual leading scorer in 6-2 junior forward Gage Daye (26.3 ppg).
Meanwhile, the Lightning rank third in scoring offense (75.3 ppg) and feature the league's third-highest scorer in senior guard Kyle White (21.4 ppg). GBC also ranks fifth in the league in scoring defense, allowing 67.4 ppg while BC is 11th, surrendering 76.3 ppg. GBC ranks No. 1 in scoring margin (+7.9) and BC is a close second at +7.7.
The Lightning women also welcome the CACC North's top-team in Bloomfield College to the Joseph West Jones Center for the 13th meeting between the two schools dating back to the 2002-03 season. The Lady Deacons hold an 8-4 advantage in the series and won the last meeting, 60-42 on Jan. 20, 2009 here at the Jones Center. They enter this game with a 7-1 mark in conference and a five-game CACC win streak.
BC most recently went on the road and defeated Post, 77-53 on Tues., Jan. 26. The Deacons are 6-0 at home, but just 1-8 on the road this season.
They face a Lightning team that is 5-4 at home but just had a five-game win-streak come to a screeching halt with a 64-32 loss to the CACC South's top team – Holy Family. GBC is 2-0 thus far against the CACC North Division with wins over Concordia and Caldwell College.
