CALDWELL, N.J. – The Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season Thurs. afternoon as the Lightning rolled, 9-0 over Caldwell College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
GBC won the first four singles matches and the first two doubles matches and won the last two singles and last doubles match via walkover.
Freshman Melanie Bonomo defeated Olga Ndhlovu, 8-4 at No. 1 singles, followed by three shutout GBC wins at No. 2 through No. 4 singles by sophomore Marina Sales, and juniors Luciana and Daniela Pereira, respectively. The Lightning won via walkover at No. 5 and 6 singles.
In doubles play, Sales and Luciana Pereira defeated Kierra Tims and Ndhlovu, 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Then Bonomo and Vanessa Velasquez earned a shutout win over Sunmarie Allen and Brittni Frantellizzi. The Lightning earned a win via walkover at No. 3 doubles.
