WILMINGTON, Del. – A Jamie Snyder goal with 15 seconds left in the first half took the wind out of Goldey-Beacom's sail, as the Lightning fell to 0-5 (0-2 CACC) on the season with a 2-0 loss to conference rival Dominican.

The Chargers, who improved to 3-1-2 (2-0-1) on the season, out-shot GBC 22-12 and took four corner kicks to the Lightning's two. Charger goalkeeper Tina Sturchio made three saves to preserve the shutout.

Sophomore Kristin Degenhardt started in goal for GBC, but after just 10:19 of play, was forced to leave the game after suffering an ankle injury. Freshman Alyssa Vetrano came in and played the final 79:41, making five saves and allowing two goals.

Midfielder Kate Attenberger and defender Ashley Welch led GBC with three shots apiece, as the Lightning had a few good scoring opportunities in the first half but could not capitalize.

The game seemed as though it would enter the half scoreless, but Snyder dribbled the ball down the right side of the field and fired a shot from just inside the 18-yard line past Vetrano to give the Chargers a 1-0 halftime lead.

Maggy Porter added an insurance goal for Dominican off an assist by Julia Camp about 12-minutes into the second half and the Chargers clung to that 2-0 lead the rest of the way. GBC took just five second-half shots and put only one on net.

The Lightning are back in action on Wed. as they visit another Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe in Chestnut Hill College at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.
