MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball team held the host Millersville University to just 22 second-half points on 18.8 percent shooting from the field as the Lightning cruised to their fourth straight victory, 65-52. GBC (6-2) improved to 2-2 against the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as Millersville falls to 5-2 on the season.

Senior guard Kyle White tied his season-high of 28 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the field and 10-of-19 from the free-throw line. He also added 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals. The reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week, junior forward Terrence Parkes, also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Junior forward Troy Esquilin was one rebound shy of a double-double as he contributed 10 points and nine boards.

The Lightning out-rebounded Millersville 49-37, outscored MU 40-20 in the paint and scored 17 second-chance points to the Marauders eight. Millersville put up 15 three-point attempts in the second half and made just one in the closing seconds of the game.

Millersville's Brandon Widener opened the scoring for the night with a three-pointer at 19:09, but the Lightning answered with a 9-0 run aided by five Parkes points and took a 9-3 lead at the 15:50 mark. GBC would not trail again the rest of the game.

However, each time the Lightning started to pull away in the first half, Millersville would find a way to hang around. First, GBC extended its lead to 17-7 at the 12:45 mark, but the Marauders battled back within one by virtue of an 8-0 run over the next two minutes.

After a short scoring lull, White led a 5-0 Lightning run with three points to give the Lightning a six-point lead, 22-16. White led all scorers in the first half with 15 points on 5-of-8 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. But again, the Marauders worked back to within two.

GBC outshot Millersville 52 percent to 39 percent from the field in the first half, but the two teams were equal in turnovers (eight) and rebounds (17), and the Lightning led by just five at the break.

The Lightning, 4-0 to this point when leading at halftime, began the second half with a 35-30 advantage. They quickly extended their lead to 11 (41-30) with a 6-0 run to start the closing frame.

The Marauders scored seven of the next eight points to cut the lead to five, but Parkes buried a three-pointer to push the lead back to eight, 45-37 at the 12:11 mark.

GBC took the game over from that point on, holding MU to just 22 second-half points, as the Lightning cruised to their fourth straight victory.

The Lightning are back in action on Sat. as they visit LeMoyne College at 2 p.m.
