Maurice Maxwell Invited to NBA Development League Team Camp

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Former Goldey-Beacom College guard Maurice Maxwell is among 16 players who have been invited to the NBA Development League’s Springfield Armor team camp.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Former Goldey-Beacom College guard Maurice Maxwell is among 16 players who have been invited to the NBA Development League's Springfield Armor team camp. Maxwell was acquired via a local tryout.

Joining Maxwell, who transferred to GBC from UMass, is his former Minutemen teammate Dante Milligan. He will be competing with: JamesOn Curry (Oklahoma State), Major Wingate (Tennessee), James Cripe (Northern Kentucky), Craig Austrie (UConn), DeSean White (Northwood University), Perrin Johnson (Louisville), Brandon Jones (Amherst) and Brayden Billbe (American), Kentrell Gransbury (South Florida), Marcus Taylor (Michigan State), Adam Harrington (Auburn), Julian Allen (Georgia Southern), Charles Easterling (Kilgore College) and Tre Whitted (Marshall). All will compete for a place on the final 10-man Armor roster when they open the season Nov. 27.

Maxwell played his final season of eligibility at GBC and appeared in 19 games while starting nine. He averaged 11.5 ppg, shooting .440 percent from the field.  He pulled down 3.9 boards per game, dished out 67 assists and had 23 blocks and 31 steals defensively.

Maxwell (6-4, 190 lbs.) is one of seven new Armor players competing for a guard spot. GBC head coach Chuck Hammond said he is excited for his former player.

“We are very happy for Maurice,” Hammond said. “He has worked extremely hard for this opportunity, and we are pulling for him to make the team.” 

The Armor are the D-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets.  They are coached by Dee Brown.
