PHILADELPHIA – The Goldey-Beacom College men and women's cross country teams competed in the Cabrini College Invitational Sat. at Belmont Pleateau. Freshman Liz Williams and sophomore Ben Kinley led the Lightning as the two ran their second best times of the season.
Williams finished 64th in the women's 5K race with a time of 23:23, helping GBC place 11th of 13 in the team standings.
Kinley finished 35th in the men's 8K race with a time of 28:42 as the Lightning placed 10th out of 14 teams.
Seven of the eight top women finishers ran their best times of the year, including three with career personal bests.
Juniors Kaydean Hayden (27:35) and Nitasia Dupree (27:19) and senior Myishea Hales (29:55) all ran career personal bests. Junior Brittney Murray (25:55), sophomore Marie Fountain (26:53), freshman Alyssa Murray (26:04) and junior Jessica Cato (33:48) all ran season personal bests.
According to head coach Brian Conley, A. Murray beat her personal record by 2:33, Fountain improved by 1:15 and Hales, Cato and Dupree all moved up by 1:10.
On the men's side, the Lightning also had three career best times from freshman David Zartler (31:26), junior Trevor Freburger (33:37) and sophomore Demetris Harding (36:01).
Sophomore Paul Graybeal ran his best time of the season at 30:26, and senior Jonathan Michalechen ran his second best time of the season at 34:53.
