Philadelphia, PA – Lightning struggle against top CACC contender Holy Family
Holy Family, the top team in the CACC, grabbed the early lead, but the Lightning worked their way back into the game, with short but productive scoring runs. Their biggest scoring run was a 9-5 run, that tied the game up at 16 with 7:57 left in the first half. From that point forward the Lighting struggled to find their offensive stride as Holy Family went on a 14-2 run to finish the first half up 30-18.
In the second half, the Tigers continued their defensive pressure, and the Lightning struggled to keep pace. The Lightning tried to find every angle and every open spot to create some offense, but was unable to do so, and fell to Holy Family 66-30.
Sophomore Janae Weldon boasted the most points for the Lightning with 10 and she added 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Kellyn Nolan added 7 points and 6 rebounds, while Arielle Alford grabbed 5 rebounds and added another block to her resume.
The Lightning will next travel to Nyack College in Nyack, NY this Saturday, January 31 for a 1:00pm game.
