Men's Soccer drops heart breaker in overtime

Wilmington, DE – Men's Soccer drops a heart breaker in overtime

 

The Lightning Men's soccer team hosted Columbia Union for their home opener today.  A back and forth game the first half, with each team taking turns shooting at the goals.  At the end of the first half, a cross from Chris Steele found Victor Netta, who one touched the ball to Angel Rodriguez, who knocked it in for the first goal of the game.  The Lightning led at the half 1-0. 

 

With five minutes left in the game, Columbia Union broke away and scored to tie the game up.  With the tying goal the game went into overtime.

 

As the overtime period started the Lightning fought hard but Columbia Union scored six minutes into overtime to secure the win 2-1. 

 

The Lightning will next face off against Mercy College on Wednesday, September 10th.
