Wilmington, DE – Lightning Tennis hits big against Rosemont

The Lightning Tennis team, looking for their second win in a row, took on the Rosemont College Ramblers.  The Lightning took to the courts first for the doubles matches.  With an 8-3 sweep in all three doubles matches the Lightning took the quick lead over the Ramblers. 

Poised for the singles matches the Lightning took to the courts again and went out strong.  As the singles went on, one by one the Lightning were dispatching the Ramblers.  Stephanie Bain defeated Anna Martini (RC), Jennifer Jones defeated Cassandra Cuadro (RC), Anastoshia Lewis defeated Rebecca Zimmerman (RC), Daniela Pereira defeated Jessica Williams (RC) and Luciana Pereira defeated Winifred Wolfe.  With just one match still playing it was up to Luisiana Souto to attempt to clinch the sweep over the Ramblers. 

Souto started her match with a 6-2 win in the first set over Priyanka Reddy (RC).  Reddy then came back in the second set defeating Souto 7-5 and pushing the match to a tiebreaker.  Souto fought hard against Reddy but was broken once and Reddy took the tiebreaker 10-8. 

The Lightning, as a team defeated the Ramblers of Rosemont 8-1.  The Lightning will travel to conference opponent Georgian Court University on Friday.
