PIKE CREEK, Del. – Lexie Sewald, the head volleyball coach at Cecil College for the 2010 season, has been hired at Goldey-Beacom College as an assistant coach, it was announced today by head coach Rich Bowers.
“I am pleased to announce that Lexie is becoming part of the volleyball staff,” Bowers said. “She has a real passion for the game, and will use that passion to help the team get back to the conference playoffs.”
Sewald began playing volleyball in the 7th grade and continued playing through high school and college. She was named All-County at Rising Sun High School her senior year, First Region Team her freshman year at Cecil College and honorable mention her sophomore year. She still currently plays in co-ed leagues in New Castle County.
Her volleyball coaching career began at Tome School in North East, Md., and at Cecil Volleyball Club. She then went on to coach at Cecil College and led the Seahawks to an 8-12 record in 2010.
Sewald, who played for Bowers at Rising Sun, said she is excited to work with him again at Goldey-Beacom.
“It will be great to be back with Coach Bowers again,” Sewald said. “I learned so much from him as a player, and now I will be able to learn a lot from him as a coach.”
