Bob Trinsey

Bob Trinsey, who has built a formidable resume during his time as a club coach, enters his fourth year as volleyball coach at Goldey-Beacom College.

The 2017 season produced the Lightning's first winning conference record (10-9) and first conference-tournament berth in 11 years.  The team also produced a CACC Rookie of the Year for a second straight season and placed two on the all-conference teams.

Trinsey’s first year had everyone right away buying into his system, producing four more victories in both the team’s overall and conference record.  The squad also made national news, leading the country with 2.4 aces per set.

That NCAA honor was buoyed by the fact the Lightning had three players ranked among the top 33 players in the country in aces per set.  Grace McCarthy closed second at 0.61 (54 total), Makinsie Balderson was 24th at 0.48 (43 total) and Olivia Florence ended 33rd at 0.46 (41 total).

Trinsey in 1996 co-founded the Brandywine Volleyball Club and since has served as a coach.  Among his accomplishments include leading the U15 team in 2010-11 team to nationals in Atlanta, the U14 squad in 2009-10 to nationals in Reno, NV and the U16 team in 2014-15 to nationals in New Orleans.  He also has run summer camps with the club since 2006.

He was the head coach at Wilmington Friends from 1999-2009 and has been its assistant coach since 2014.  He has over 100 victories during his time there and twice was voted Delaware Volleyball High School Coach of the Year (2008 & 2009).

Trinsey also has served as a camp instructor/counselor for Kutztown University, Greenville Volleyball and the Sanford Sports Camp as well as a volunteer coach for St. Mary Magdalen Middle School in Wilmington and an assistant coach at Concord High School.

Trinsey
also was the athletic president at Holy Rosary Parish from 1993-95, coaching volleyball, football, basketball and track & field.
