Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Draws, 1-1, at Caldwell

Junior Jessica Jensen (Las Vegas, NV) scored late in the contest and Goldey-Beacom continued to show more offensive fire in a 1-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference draw at Caldwell in Caldwell, NJ.
 
The opening half saw the Lightning pepper the goal with 10 shots that included four on frame.  The Cougars had six with four saved by sophomore Maria Empadinhas (Cascais, Portugal) as things went into halftime scoreless.
 
Caldwell in the third minute of the second half benefited from a handball in the box and was awarded a penalty kick.  Empadinhas made a great save off Silva Suri's attempt, but Izzy Martin was first to the rebound and banged into home for a 1-0 contest.
 
The Lightning in the second half were trying every which way to create the equalizer and finally got it in the 88th minute.  Jensen intercepted a clearing attempt from the Cougars and put one inside the left post for her third goal of the season and eighth career.
 
Sophomore Maria Fonseca (Cascais, Portugal) got the assist.
 
Goldey-Beacom (1-6-1, 1-1-1 CACC) closed with a season-best 17 shots which included six off the bench from senior Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, NJ) and three each from Jensen and senior Miley Jones (Pemberton, NJ).  Empadinhas, twice this season picked to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, made seven saves.
 
Arianna Sullivan had six saves and Juliana Ballesteros recorded four shots for the Cougars (0-8-1, 0-3-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home next Wednesday against Holy Family, beginning at 3:00 pm.
