Goldey-Beacom softball picked up two CACC wins at Chestnut Hill, with game one seeing a 11-1 win from GBC and game two going to nine innings before the Lightning came out on top, winning 9-7.
In game one, GBC got out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning one a two-run double from senior Rayna Pelcak (Laurel Springs, NJ), a two-run single from fellow senior Emma Friel (Coatesville, PA) and a two-run single from senior Chasedy Johnson (Egg Harbor City, NJ). Chestnut Hill scored its lone run in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI from Jazmine Ramirez. The remainder of the game belonged to the Lightning, with freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) singling to plate sophomore Bri Cole (Rising Sun, MD) in the second inning and then Cole got an RBI double, Gingras added a two-RBI double and Friel notched another RBI in the sixth inning.
Junior Molly Skelly (Blackwood, NJ) improved her record to 8-5 from the mound, finishing the game with five strikeouts and only allowing two hits.
Game two saw similar action in the opening inning, with the Lightning taking a 3-0 lead on an RBI double from Cole and two total RBI from Gingras and senior Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD). Cole and Simpson increased the lead to five in the second inning with a pair of RBI. Chestnut Hill went on a hitting run in the fifth inning tying the score on singles from Jenn Pokropinski and Jazmine Ramirez, a two-RBI single from Mikayla Pengelly, and a walk. An RBI single from McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) in the seventh gave GBC a short-lived lead before Kassidy Colangelo tied the score again in the bottom of the inning. The game continued into the ninth inning when Frank hit an RBI-single, then scored on a wild pitch and Pelcak had a sacrifice fly, giving the Lightning a 9-6 lead before Hailey Kober singled to make it 9-7. Skelly ended the game with a strikeout and added her ninth win of the season on her fourth strikeout of the game.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Friday, when it hosts Molloy for a 2:00 pm doubleheader at the Jackson Athletic Complex in Wilmington, DE.
