Goldey-Beacom softball faced Caldwell on the road in Caldwell, NJ and faced a 10-5 loss before falling 3-2 in the second game of the doubleheader.
Game one saw the Lightning score in the first inning on an RBI single from freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) and again in the third inning off another RBI from Gingras. Caldwell scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-RBI single from Lindsay Oller before Gingras had another RBI in the fifth inning to make the score 3-2. Caldwell quickly ran up their runs in the fifth and sixth inning, starting with a two-RBI triple by Emerson Jarrard, then two RBI singles by Emily Kurth and Sam Didonna, a two-RBI single from Lindsay Oller, and finally a two-RBI double from Emerson Jarrard. GBC scored two more runs in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Gingras and an RBI single from freshman Ayri Hansen (Lakewood, CA) but came up short.
Game two saw Caldwell score in the opening inning on a sacrifice fly from Emerson Jarrard before Goldey-Beacom scored two in the second inning on a single from freshman Jillian Coulbourn (Frankford, DE) that plated senior Emma Friel (Coatesville, PA) and Gingras. Caldwell took the lead and had the winning run in the bottom of the third inning when Jarrard had a two-run homer.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Wednesday, when it faces Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA for a 2:00pm doubleheader.
