Goldey-Beacom track and field teams traveled the short distance to Newark, DE to compete at the Delaware Invitational and put up strong efforts against Division 1 competition.
For the men, in the 100-meter dash, junior Jose Cornejo (Sinaloa, Mexico) placed fifth with a time of 11.28 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Cornejo took sixth with a time of 22.39 seconds, junior Jalen Wright (Wilmington, DE) placed seventh with 22.42 seconds, junior Bostwick Patten (Middletown, DE) finished 12th with 22.96 seconds, senior Kedar Reid (Bear, DE) placed 17th with 23.56 seconds, and sophomore David Yunga (Philadelphia, PA) finished 19th with 23.61 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Patten placed seventh with a time of 49.19 seconds, junior Chris Robinosn (Philadelphia, PA) finished 13th with 50.03 seconds, Yunga placed 16th with 50.95 seconds, and Reid finished 27th with a time of 53.52 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Wright placed first with a time of 54.11 seconds, freshman Quran McCoy (Mays Landing, NJ) finished second with 58.60 seconds, and junior Zach Phy (Lancaster, PA) placed third with a time of 1:01.36.
The 800 meter run saw freshman Cardin Benjamin (Lewes, DE) place third with a time of 2:01.20 and sophomore Matt Haight (Bear, DE) place 17th with 2:17.59. In the 1500 meter run, freshman Eerik Nou Wihlborg (Helsingborg, Sweden) placed seventh with a time of 4:15.46, junior John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) finished eleventh with a time of 4:22.16, and freshman Raine Siwicki (Martinsville, VA) finished with a time of 4:47.88. In the field events, senior Jayvon Laguerre (Milford, DE) placed second in high jump with a jump of 1.90m. Freshman Tony Huynh (Silver Spring, MD) placed 13th in shot put with a throw of 10.4m and 14th in discus with a throw of 30.5m.
For the women, in the 100-meter dash, junior Tania Alfaro (San Jose, Costa Rica) placed seventh with a time of 12.95 seconds and sophomore Narlia Albert (Vieux Fort, St. Lucia) finished 16th with a time of 13.87 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, NJ) placed third with a time of 25.29 seconds, freshman Anna Pissarotti (Italy) placed seventh with 26.02 seconds, sophomore Aiyana Adams (Pittsburgh, PA) finished 14th with 27.70 seconds, and Albert finished 24th with a time of 28.80 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Dixon placed second with a time of 57.43 seconds, Alfaro finished fifth with 59.57 seconds, and Adams placed 13th with a time of 1:03.24.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore Liv Drewling (Düsseldorf, Germany) placed third with a time of 2:20.73 and fellow sophomore Ella Badra (Caracas, Venezuela) finished seventh with a time of 2:25.33. Sophomore Tess Pearce (Manchester, England) placed fifth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:08.13. In the field events, Drooling finished sixth in long jump with a jump of 4.9m and Pissarotti placed fifth in high jump with a jump of 1.60m. Senior Jourdyn Rumph (Ardmore, PA) placed third in discus, shot put, and hammer throw with a throws of 39.2m, 11.60m, and 41.2 meters. Freshman Ana Thaler placed sixth in hammer throw with a throw of 38.1m
Both teams return to action on Friday, when they compete at the Paul Donahue Invitational in Chester, PA.
