Goldey-Beacom softball faced CACC opponent Post on the road and came away with a 12-1, five-inning victory before falling 5-3 in the second game of the doubleheader.
In game one, GBC came out strong in the first inning scoring four runs on a walk, a two-RBI double from senior Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) and an RBI double from freshman Bella Musey (Millville, NJ). The third inning saw two more runs from the Lightning on an RBI single from freshman Ayri Hansen (Lakewood, CA) and junior McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) getting hit by a pitch to plate Hansen. An RBI from Simpson in the fourth made the score 7-0 before the fifth inning saw Frank have a three-run double to right-center field, sophomore Kaitlyn Quintanilla (Edgewater Park, N.J.) getting an RBI single and senior Emma Friel (Coatesville, PA) scoring on an error. Post scored their run on a solo home run from Nyla Sapia.
Game two saw Post rally from the five-inning loss and take its third victory of the season. Goldey-Beacom started in the first inning scoring on an RBI single from freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) before Post had a two-run homer from Haley Dibona. A walk gave Post the 3-1 lead after the first inning. GBC fought back with a RBI double from sophomore Bri Cole (Rising Sun, MD) in the third inning and an RBI single from Simpson to even the score at three in the fifth inning. Post gained the advantage on a solo home run from Sydney Jones in the sixth inning and an RBI single from Alexandra Bisceglia finalized the win for the Eagles.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Wednesday, when it hosts Wilmington (DE) for a 2:00 pm doubleheader at the Jackson Athletic Complex in Wilmington, DE.
