Goldey-Beacom softball continued play in Melbourne, Florida and picked up a 5-4 win over Minot State before a 4-3 victory against Minot State.
Game one saw Goldey-Beacom open up the scoring in the first inning on a two RBI single from senior Rayna Pelcak (Laurel Springs, N.J.) that scored freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) and junior McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA). Ferris State evened the score at two in the bottom of the first inning after a walk home for Alexis Kozlowski and an RBI from Jayden Marlatt. In the fifth inning, a two RBI double from sophomore Bri Cole (Rising Sun, Md) made the score 4-2 before freshman Ayri Hansen (Lakewood, CA) singled in the sixth to give GBC their fifth run of the game. Ferris State's Ava Gardner had a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh, but strong fielding from the Lightning ended the opportunity for a comeback.
Game two, Minot State scored its first run on a walk in the first inning before Cole responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single that scored Frank. Sara Van Wickler singled in the second inning and Paige Kellogg singled in the fourth inning to give Minot State the 3-1 lead.
The fifth inning saw a single from Gingras up the middle to score Hansen and the winning runs for GBC came in the bottom of the seventh when Cole singled to third base, allowing for seniors Delaney Insinga (Southampton, NJ) and Chasedy Johnson (Egg Harbor City, NJ to take home on an error, giving the Lighting a 4-3 victory.
Goldey-Beacom plays its final games in Florida on Friday, where it plays D'Youville at 10:00am and Post at 2:30pm.
