Goldey-Beacom women's basketball faced cross-town rival Wilmington (DE) in the Joseph West Jones Center and came away with an 89-69 victory over the CACC opponent, picking up its second consecutive conference win.
The first quarter saw back-and-forth scoring between the two teams, but the Lightning gained the upper hand in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a 40-28 lead. Goldey-Beacom held strong in the third and fourth quarters, outshooting Wilmington by 20 in the end en route to its fifth conference victory.
Goldey-Beacom was led by sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with 20 points. Senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, junior Genesis Garcia (Aguada, P.R.) had another strong showing with 17 points and freshman Eva Walker (Wilmington, DE) notched 13 points.
Wilmington (DE) was led by Emma Brown with 18 points and 12 rebounds and by TyKeisha Hill with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Saturday, when it travels to Rutherford, NJ to face Felician at 1:00 pm.
