Softball Chosen to End Sixth in the CACC Preseason Poll

2/2/2026 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom received a first-place vote and was picked to close sixth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll based on a vote of the league's coaches.

A key player back is junior McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA), a quality infielder who looks to remain one of the area's best hitters.  An exceptional talent, she notched a 20-game hitting streak last season one year after recording a 22-game run.  Frank last year ended 42nd in the country with 17 doubles, fifth in the CACC with a .397 batting average, tied for sixth with four triples and 10th with 32 RBI.

Frank enters the season tied for eighth in school history with 80 runs, tied for ninth with 33 doubles, 10th with a .385 batting average and tied for 17th with 131 hits.

Senior Emma Friel (Coatesville, PA) is one of the team's most valuable players at catcher, giving the squad outstanding defense.  Owner of a career .987 fielding percentage that includes .985 from a season ago, Friel has competed in 115 games over her three seasons with 90 starts.

Senior Delaney Insinga (Southampton, NJ) made the most of her career-best 27 starts a season ago, notching a .333 batting average and a .356 slugging percentage.  She should continue to see a great deal of playing time in the outfield.

Junior Chasedy Johnson (Egg Harbor City, NJ) has been a vital component with her speed and she should continue being an important part of the offense.  She played in 48 games last season and for her career is fourth in team history with 42 stolen bases.

Last season (40-16) provided history, pride and memories that will live for many years.  The squad notched the most single-season victories for any team in the Athletic Department's 35-year history, became the first GBC program to host an NCAA Tournament event on the Pike Creek campus and played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Lightning also made the CACC Tournament in three consecutive seasons for the first time in 19 years and won multiple games in said tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time.

Goldey-Beacom also won CACC Team GPA Award for having the top grade point average among all the league teams for that sport.
