Goldey-Beacom women's basketball faced CACC opponent Georgian Court at the Joseph West Jones Center in WIlmington, DE and were unfortunately dealt a 73-52 loss by the conference foe.
The first half of play saw equal action from both teams, with Georgian Court heading into halftime with a three point lead over the Lightning. The third quarter continued to be neck and neck, with GBC cutting the lead down to one, but Georgian Court came out on fire in the fourth quarter on both the defensive and offensive end, putting up 23 points in the final ten minutes en route to the win and seventh conference victory of the season.
Goldey-Beacom was led by sophomore Marasia Dyes (Binghamton, N.Y.) with 12 points. Senior Gaia Zimbardo (Parma, Italy) notched 11 points and six rebounds, junior Genesis Garcia (Aguada, P.R.) finished with ten points, and senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) had nine points with eight rebounds,
Georgian Court was led by Imani Gillette with 25 points and ten rebounds, Karissa Smedley with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Niyell McCargo with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Tuesday, where it travels to Philadelphia, PA to face Jefferson at 6:00pm.
