Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Posts 99-85 Triumph at Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom rode the momentum of great play to begin the second half and took control with a 99-85 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.

Goldey-Beacom's defense in the opening half limited Georgian Court to just 38 percent shooting (14-of-37) and 2-of-13 from three-point range, opening a 35-32 lead.  Sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) scored nine points on 4-of-5 shooting with junior Elisha Brown (Bowie, MD) adding eight and six rebounds.

The Lightning (9-6, 3-4 CACC) early in the second started to take command, using a 31-14 run in just over 10 minutes for a 64-48 lead with 9:13 remaining.  Junior Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) scored eight points in that time and senior Justin Allen (Boca Raton, FL) netted seven for GBC, which shot 12-of-21 from the floor and held Georgian Court to only 3-of-12.

The Lions (5-9, 2-4) got within 10, but truly never threatened as the Lightning improved to 22-1 in the series.  GBC won the first 16 games and has won the last six.

Powell netted 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting, reaching 20 points for a sixth time this season.  This comes after he was named Monday to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for the fifth time this season.

Brown had 21 points and nine rebounds, Jones recorded 14 and eight with Allen getting 14 and five.

Cam Edmonds, who scored 48 points for Georgian Court during last season's meeting in Pike Creek, today was held to 26 points.  Justin Soranno had 15 points and 11 rebounds with Jaycen Santucci adding 12 and 10.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday entertains Post for a 3:00 pm contest at the Jones Center.
