Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Records 83-73 Win Over Post

Goldey-Beacom was faced with a battle against Post and got a big victory, coming up with some clutch buckets down the stretch in an 83-73 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning held a 73-70 cushion with just over two minutes left looking to make things a two-possession game.  Junior Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) obliged by hitting a critical layup with 2:04 left for a five-point game.

Post's Derrick Thomas II hit once from the line with 1:44 to go for a 75-71 game, but missed the second before Harry Scully got the offensive rebound.  Ta'Quan Williams then missed a big three-point attempt and sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) got the rebound for the Lightning.

Powell hit twice from the line with 97 seconds left for a 77-71 contest.  Williams then turned it over and sophomore Anthony Akande (Newark, NJ) went coast-to-coast for the dunk with 1:23 left that all but ended things, making it 79-71.

Junior Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) again was on fire, scoring a season-best 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting with four 3-pointers.  It was the third time this season he reached 20 points.

Powell had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Williams netted 14 points with junior Elisha Brown (Bowie, MD) adding 11 for the Lightning (10-6, 4-4 CACC).

Thomas scored 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Williams netted 13 with Zion Lott adding 12 for the Eagles (4-10, 3-3).

Goldey-Beacom returns home next Wednesday against Jefferson for an 8:00 pm game.  The women's game between the same schools precedes it at 6:00 pm.
