Women’s Basketball Handed 66-58 Loss at Bridgeport

Goldey-Beacom made the trip to New England and was dealt a 66-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT.
 
Goldey-Beacom near the end of the opening half showed plenty of fight, netting six straight points in closing to a 29-20 deficit with 2:05 remaining.  Senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) scored three points with freshman Kato Van Heuverbeke (Waregem, Belgium) adding a jump shot.
 
Sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) scored six points in the opening half with Ciszkowski adding five.
 
The Purple Knights regained control by outscoring the Lightning 22-16 in the third quarter, shooting 53 percent (9-of-17) from the floor for a 53-36 margin.  Nicole Benini poured in 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and Niyah Whitten added six.
 
Goldey-Beacom made a late run by scoring the final 13 points.  Freshman Amber Furtado (Deerfield, NH) netted four points in that time to help her squad shoot 4-of-6 from the field.
 
Betz netted 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Ciszkowski added 11 for the Lightning (1-12, 1-5 CACC).
 
Whitten scored 16 points with Benini adding 15 and 10 rebounds for the Purple Knights (6-3, 4-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday is at Georgian Court.  Please note game time in Lakewood, NJ is at noon.
