Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Wins Its Sixth Straight, 89-70 at Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom saw five players score in double figures and once again made the second half its own for its sixth straight win, an 89-70 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA.

An intense battle between two squads that seemed destined to be playing in the conference tournament next March saw the Lightning own a 38-32 halftime cushion.  Junior Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) continued to be a factor in every way with 10 points, senior Justin Allen (Boca Raton, FL) scored eight on 4-of-5 shooting and sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ), the reigning CACC Player of the Week, added seven.

The Lightning's lead was reduced to 49-45 with 14:33 to go, but that was before the visitors scored the next 12 points in just over three minutes for a 61-45 margin with 9:39 remaining.  Allen netted five points with junior Elisha Brown (Bowie, MD) adding a 3-pointer.

Allen scored 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting, Powell netted 17, freshman Jermai Stewart-Herring (Wilmington, DE) poured in a season-best 13 on 5-of-6 shooting, Jones scored 12 and sophomore Brian Blanchet (North Babylon, NY) added 10 for the Lightning.

Amari Dow scored 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, Kamal Lee netted 14 with Landon Shivers adding 10 for the Griffins (7-12, 5-7 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (14-6, 8-4) remains tied for second place with Post (8-4) in the CACC and the duo now are two games ahead of fourth-place Bridgeport (6-6).

Goldey-Beacom this Saturday hosts Dominican (NY) at 3:00 pm, following the women's 1:00 pm game between the same schools.
