Goldey-Beacom women's basketball faced a tough Jefferson squad in the Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE and was dealt a 73-51 loss by the conference opponent.
The Lightning came out strong in the first half of play and led by two after the first quarter and headed into halftime only down by four. The Rams fought back offensively in the third and fourth quarter, going to multiple scoring runs and holding strong on defense en route to their 11th victory of the season and fifth conference win.
Goldey-Beacom was led by senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) with 13 points and five rebounds. Fellow senior Gaia Zimbardo (Parma, Italy) finished with nine points and seven rebounds and sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) notched eight points and two steals.
Jefferson was led by Emily Spratt with 31 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Caleigh Sperling finished with 16 points and Tori Nigro added 13 points.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Tuesday, when it faces Holy Family at 6:00 pm in the Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
