Goldey-Beacom sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week and junior Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) was picked to the league's Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Betz averaged 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds over two games with seven blocks.  She poured in a career-best 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting with eight rebounds, six blocks, three assists and two 3-pointers in Goldey-Beacom's 69-62 win Tuesday at Georgian Court.  Betz then had 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds in her team's 65-48 triumph Saturday over Post.

Enjoying a remarkable campaign for a squad which continues to show upside, Betz has scored at least 20 points three times this season and has reached double figures four of her last seven contests.  She is ninth in the league with 13.5 points per game, second with 1.4 blocks per contest, fourth with a .794 free throw percentage, eighth with a .467 field goal percentage and tied for eighth with 32.7 minutes per game.

Twice this season Betz was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Jones averaged 19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds over two games.  He was a force Saturday against Post, scoring 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting with four rebounds and four 3-pointers in Goldey-Beacom's 83-73 win.  Jones also had 14 points and eight rebounds Tuesday in his squad's 99-85 triumph at Georgian Court.

Jones has been a dominant player in helping Goldey-Beacom to victories in five of its last seven contests.  He is eighth in the conference with 14.4 points per game, third with 2.4 steals per contest, seventh with a .532 field goal percentage and 10th with 6.6 rebounds per game.

Twice this season Jones was picked the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Both teams are in action Wednesday against Jefferson with the women's game at 6:00 pm and the men's contest at 8:00 pm.
