Men’s Soccer Handed 3-1 Loss at the District of Columbia

Goldey-Beacom survived a two-hour weather delay, but could not get a result in a 3-1 loss at the District of Columbia in Washington, DE.
 
The Firebirds got at it in the 11th minute, when Zachary Parker scored off a feed from Ignacio Lopez.  Joao De Souza De Aquino tallied in the 38th for UDC and completed his brace in the 42nd minute to give his squad a 3-0 halftime lead.
 
The Lightning got one back in the 53rd minute when senior Emanuel Bustos (Miami, FL) netted his first goal of the season and eighth career for a 3-1 deficit.  Freshman Matt Porto (Wilmington, DE) and senior Sean Dickie (Aberdeen, Scotland) added the assists.
 
Pedro Montanes made four saves and Bustos attempted four shots for the Lightning (0-2).
 
Sergio Becerra made three saves for UDC (2-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom is back on the road Tuesday to visit Pittsburgh-Johnstown for a 4:00 pm match.
